On-going development and implementation

Accessibility planning doesn’t end with the submission of the Accessibility Strategy in March 2006. The strategy should continue to evolve with more action plans coming on-stream over time. Authorities will need to undertake further local accessibility assessments and develop actions plans for the highlighted priorities. Both priorities and actions may change in the light of additional information. Any changes will need to be described in Annual Progress Reports.

Once the Accessibility Strategy has been prepared and the initial action plans finalised, the next step is to begin to implement these action plans in association with your partners. Some actions will be led by the LTA, others may be led by other members of the partnership, possibly in association with the LTA. You’ll need to plan, coordinate and monitor these actions to ensure that adequate resources are available. To help with this, there is a range of case studies associated with this toolkit to enable you to draw on the benefit of others’ experience.
