Rural Disadvantage: the Commission for Rural Communities first Thematic Study
The Commission for Rural Communities is undertaking work on a major study about rural disadvantage. A growing and useful body of knowledge has been developed, but it is clear there remain gaps and weaknesses in the evidence base. Furthermore, success in tackling rural disadvantage will depend partly upon sound evidence about the policies and approaches that work. This topic is right at the top of the Commission’s agenda and the Commission plans to complete this study in early 2006. Work, knowledge and ideas from a wide range of bodies, including service providers, researchers, think tanks, voluntary groups and other organisations are requested to help the CRC to create a robust and challenging report on rural disadvantage. An online learning network has also been launched which brings these groups together.

If you wish to participate in this network, please visit http://disadvantage.net.countryside.gov.uk.
